Recreational Programs

Recreational Programs:

Recreational programs at the Center for Students with Special Needs include social, cultural, artistic, and sports activities. The Center is keen to encourage students with disabilities to participate with their colleagues in the various activities of the university, in addition to the special activities organized by the Center according to the nature of disability, including:

- Swimming training program for beginners with visual impairment: More than 40 students with visual impairment were trained in swimming skills and protection from drowning.

- Sports activities program: Students with disabilities practice various sports activities, according to the nature of the disability, in the same gyms designated for all university students, throughout the academic year. Examples of such sports activities are goalball and athletics for the visually impaired, volleyball and athletics for the mobility impaired, and football for the deaf. The center also organizes a quarterly exercise program to prepare students with disabilities to participate in sports tournaments and competitions at the level of local universities.

- Recreational services: The Deanship of Student Affairs at King Saud University provides the recreational hall in the main lobby of the university for all university students, and there are recreational tools for people with disabilities such as a tennis table for people with visual disabilities.

- Cultural and Social Excursions Program: The Center organizes local trips for students with disabilities, which extend for three days and quarterly, to the various cities of the Kingdom to learn about heritage and cultural landmarks and visit institutions specialized in the field of disability in those cities, in addition to recreational parks, within the framework of supporting life and social skills for students with disabilities. The cultural and social trips program also includes international trips outside the Kingdom to learn about the most prominent practices and services in universities and international institutions related to the field of disability, in addition to visiting museums and cultural monuments in the field. For example, students with disabilities under the international travel program visited the Louis Braille Museum, Paris Dauphine University in France, and Kingston University in Britain.

- Artistic activities: The Center encourages students with disabilities to participate in activities, exhibitions, and artistic theaters, for example, the participation of students with disabilities in cultural plays within the activities of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, in addition to participating in artistic and creative works in university exhibitions.
