Units of the Center:

First: Academic Counseling Unit

This unit is the main pillar of counseling and aims to help the student achieve his goal of entering the university most easily and efficiently by helping him to adapt to the academic system and overcome the difficulties that lead to his faltering.

The Concept of Academic Counseling:

Academic counseling is one of the most important inputs to the university education system. It is an important link that guides students to achieve the best performance during the teaching and learning processes to obtain the best educational outcomes and the best possible academic achievement. The academic counseling service also helps students adapt to the university environment and seize the opportunities available to them, by providing them with knowledge and basic skills that raise the level of their academic achievement.

The concept of academic counseling can be procedurally defined as follows:

  • Academic counseling is an ongoing and regular process that accompanies a student's career until graduation.
  • Academic counseling is based on planning, setting goals, guidance, and communicating.
  • Academic counseling is the responsibility of all faculty members, not just the Academic Counseling Unit. Therefore, all faculty members participate in the activities of academic supervision of students.

Forms:

  • Case study of an academically failing student
  • Explaining the statements of academic counseling in the case study form of a student who is failing academically
  • College-to-Center Transfer Form
  • Form No. 2 for the case study of an academically failing student

Second: Preventive Counseling Unit

It aims to anticipate problems before they occur by raising awareness of virtuous values and solving some of the problems experienced by the student resulting from the incompatibility between the noble Islamic values that the student believes in and his impulses at this age. This unit is interested in giving faith doses in appropriate ways that contribute to solving many problems that may face him and hinder his progress and academic excellence or affect him in terms of the psychological or social aspects.

This unit is also concerned with organizing and coordinating lectures, seminars, and general programs on counseling. Moreover, it offers counseling programs for final-year students in high school. Furthermore, the unit is concerned with finding ways to raise the efficiency of counselors and establish appropriate courses and activities in this respect.

Third: Vocational Counseling Unit

This unit is concerned with preparing the student to enter the world of jobs and professions capably, starting from choosing the appropriate specialization by choosing the appropriate specialization through accurate scientific measurement. It helps the student find suitable job search skills from knowing how to write a CV to finding a suitable job.

Fourth: Guidance, Psychological Counseling and Social Support Unit

The Student Guidance and Counseling Unit provides preventive services that lead primarily to creating the appropriate conditions for the normal growth of students. The aim is to help the student build positive social relations with his colleagues, faculty members, and university employees, as well as build successful responses to the problems he faces in various situations that might arise in his daily interactions. Moreover, the unit provides therapeutic services to deal with behavioral disorders, emotional problems, compatibility problems, and others in cooperation with King Khalid University Hospital (represented by psychiatry clinics). The Unit also provides group therapy sessions through which the developmental aspect of students can be activated.

The most prominent tasks of the unit include studying the psychological and social situation of the student, applying psychological tests and measures, solving some of the behavioral and material problems of students, and following up on academically failing students.
